Sixth graders put on their thinking caps

A team of Greene County sixth graders placed sixth among 43 Iowa teams in the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl.

The Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl is on online event in which students score points for quickly and correctly answering questions about math, geography, government, sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history, general knowledge and fun trivia.

Teacher/coach Susannah Cunningham explained the contest is meant to be a team activity with all test takers around one computer. Teams have two chances to answer each question, and points are awarded based on how fast the team answers an on accuracy. “Teams who do well usually are teams who can come up with a consensus,” she said

Participation was open to all sixth graders.

This year’s team included (from left) Landon Marin, Michael Rumley, Nathan Behne, Joel McAndrews and Gaven Vander Linden.
